HISTORY CASTING
is the teaming of Anne Mulhall of LDI Casting
with Duncan B. Putney to create a unique service
to producers shooting in New England:
- First and foremost, a casting
source of quality historic reenactors for background
performers as well as experienced professional
actors to portray historic characters.
- Second, a source for historical
consultants and period locations for filming.
The director of LDI, Anne Mulhall,
has extensive experience casting film, television,
theatre, commercials and print while Duncan Putney
has the experience as an historic film and television
consultant, actor and writer with many ties to
the reenacting hobby. When you need historical
texture, when you need historical accuracy, when
you need economy, when you need it to be yesterday
then you need History Casting from LDI.

HISTORIC REENACTORS and ACTORS
Reenactors
are hobbyists, who through hours of research,
documentation and rehearsal accurately recreate
a period of history. These reenactors are a valuable
resource for film and television producers. By
using these reenactors as background performers
not only will you have a visually and texturally
authentic background, but you will save time and
money as these reenactors provide there own wardrobe,
props and equipment and they do not need to be
taught the activity that they are engaged in.
They show up on set ready to go. Many have additional
period equipment such as complete taverns, military
encampments, whaleboats, cannon, blacksmith forges,
kitchens, medical equipment, and much more; your
prop master will be amazed.
There
are also actors who have taken the time to research
and portray well known historical figures, many
with critically acclaimed one person shows. These
actors not only look, dress and act like the historic
character, but they can converse with you as if
they were indeed that person. These actors are
a resource that is underused by producers of period
film, television, commercials and print projects.
History Casting has found Revolutionary
war soldiers for a parade scene in Clint Eastwood's
film "Mystic River,"
turn of the century baseball players with vintage
uniforms and equipment for the independent film
"By The Sea"
(Performance Partners Organization), accurately
costumed 18th century sailors and French soldiers
to crew on the historic sloop Providence for the
PBS miniseries "Ben Franklin"
(Middlemarch Films), a location scouting for a
PBS American Experience project, and we have been
consulting on several scripts and projects in
pre-production. You can also read about us in
the January '03 issue of IMAGINE
MAGAZINE.

HISTORIC CONSULTANTS
History Casting has access to some
of the top people in their fields, PhDs, authors,
artists, master craftsmen, and collectors. Historic
consultants are a great help with script consultation,
in constructing accurate costumes for principal
performers, training principal performers and
extras in the use of period weapons and tools.
They can assist designers, decorators, costumers,
prop persons and stylists in constructing or acquiring
accurate period details.

PERIOD LOCATIONS
History Casting is compiling a file
of period locations that can accurately portray
your historic setting without the intrusion of
the modern world in your shot. We have period,
houses, taverns, forts, ships and farms for your
locations scouts to look at. This can be a huge
savings in time for your production.
